Tuesday Tip – Junk Mail as Inspiration
One of the lovely ladies I plan to meet in person at Relevant 10 is Denise from The Cottage Chick. Her recent post on Pottery Barn Look Alikes really got my attention, because that is exactly what I did this summer.
Just over four years ago we purchased our wall unit at a regional store called Just Cabinets. I’ve changed what is displayed on it countless a few times but when The Pottery Barn Catalog arrived with this inside…
…I knew I could finally use the junk mail for inspiration instead with what we had in our home. I wasn’t planning on blogging about it at the time, so I didn’t take a before picture. Here is my attempt at re-creating the look with what I owned.
Now, in the land of catalog imagination, all my scrapbooks would be one color, the surround sound speakers would be wireless and mounted near the ceiling and there would be no dust on the furniture. In real life, you can take inspiration from the catalogs you get instead of allowing them to create a sense of dissatisfaction.

Then you can laugh along with us at Gary & Elaine’s over at Catalog Living.
