Haven – Tender Moments
First, I want to assure everyone I did not burn the house down last week. I did work diligently each day to remove the clutter from my space and God used Relevant to remove a lot of spiritual clutter. I will be blogging more about that in the future as I feel strongly that God wants me to meditate on the myriad of convictions He placed on my heart there. Bonus, I received several candles as gifts there, so my supply has been replenished to continue lighting them daily and continue praying for peace in my home. My music is going this morning as I spend an hour working before my family starts their day.
This week’s challenge
October 24 – Keep the candle going, the music playing, and add some tender moments with your family. Have a pillow party in the family room and get out every blanket and pillow in the house and be cozy with the kids or your hubby! Even if you live alone you can do this. Enjoy a cozy evening of hot cider and caramel corn. Give a 5 minute back rub to every single person in your house…and for a double challenge- try to give one every day to each family member! During your tender moment with the family, ask them how they feel about this challenge. Are they enjoying it? Is it helpful? Is there anything they would change. Give your family listening ears. I think you will be blessed by the positive feedback you will receive!
Now, if you know my family at all, you know a pillow fight is unlikely. You know what is tender to my family right now? It’s when I play wii games with them, without checking my email, facebook or twitter on my phone. It’s when I spend an hour getting calluses built up on my fingertips as my son shows me chords on the guitar. It’s when I scratch my daughter’s back for her. It’s when I hang out in the garage with my husband while he’s working on a project. It’s when we all drop the chaos of life: school, work, responsibilities and take the time to enjoy autumn beauty that is here, right now, where God has us.
So, what about you? What will you do this week that will be tender to those in your home? God has blessed us with unique talents and gifts, your family is waiting for you to use them.
Eph 4:32 “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
