Get it Together: Dust

I considered not even writing this series for the simple fact that it meant I would be posting one day about dust. Do you really need me to tell you anything about how to dust? There are lots of approaches to dusting: feather dusters, spray cleaners, and the why-even-bother method. We aim for a quick pass through the house, then add mirrors and our sliding glass door. If you have dogs who like to sit and watch the outdoors, you know what the glass looks like after a week of this.

Dusting is a chore I loathe. I feel the same way about seeing the dust everywhere though. I know that if it does not get cleaned regularly, it does from a light layer to a gunky mess. It can be true of my heart and attitude too.

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10

In the words of Isaiah to the nation of Israel, I pray that God would help me daily to “shake off (my) dust; rise up.”
