Peace on Earth December Challenge

Do you know what tomorrow is? December 1st. Does that make your blood pressure rise or make you feel overwhelmed? I can relate. A typical family of four has plenty of demands on it in our society as it is. Add the fact that the two kids are teenagers involved in activities five nights per week, having our home on the market (again) and planning a cross-country move…well, it is downright nuts.

But other than some pecan pie, I do not want “nuts” to describe our holiday season. You probably agree. Join me as I commit to Courtney’s December challenge. I am praying this will not only bring a more peaceful spirit in my home for the holidays, but that it will build habits that I am able to carry into the New Year. (I found this to be true from the Make Your Home a Haven challenge.)

Let’s Prepare This Week with Courtney

Today: Write at the top of your December calendar page – I Peter 5:7 “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” This will be a reminder every time you look at your calendar and feel anxious about all you have to get done – to pray. God cares for you. Release your worries to him and rest in him.

Also, go buy an extra large candle and light a candle everyday in your home in the month of December. (I will be using up all the candles I can find before we have to move.) I will be starting mine in the morning! But you can start yours at dinner time. I will be placing mine in the kitchen – the main hub of my home. Each time the candle catches your eye, say a prayer for peace in your home.

What is the biggest challenge you face each holiday season to make the time of year match your expectations?
