Foto Friday #14: My One Word
We close the book on another year tonight and tomorrow we open a new journal, full of blank pages and hope. I love the promise and hope that comes with these days, but more and more I realize that each day holds this hope…each hour in fact. I believe strongly in written goals and know that pursuing them with intention makes me a better woman even when I fall short of achieving them. Maybe you have a list of resolutions, maybe you think they are silly. I think I am somewhere in between. I see the value in focusing our energy toward the goal, but not in thinking we can only start something January 1st.
For the last couple of years, I have seen friends and other bloggers mentioning their One Word. God began putting this on my heart throughout the fall season, although I could not put it into words. I think you might be surprised to learn my One Word for 2011 is FRUIT.
Not eating fruit, but living a life that exhibits the Fruit of the Spirit more fully.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23
Do you have New Year’s resolutions? Do you think they are pointless? If you had to choose one word for the year coming to a close, 2010, what would it be?
Now you have me rethinking my “one word.” You see my word is JOY. It is only my my conscience decision to have JOY that it will happen. No matter what my circumstances, how horrible, blah, normal or fantastic are I can only have JOY when I choose to.
And yet, Fruit covers Joy as well…. and I certainly could use the rest of that fruit in my life!
