Summer Reading
Back in January I made a commitment to read through the Bible in 90 Days. While our cross-country move, some back issues and general not-sticking-to-it have meant I haven’t quite finished, I am persevering. I will finish and you will probably be the first to know.
I have read a few other books this year but once again I find the stack on my nightstand out-pacing my reading speed. While my back situation is currently limiting my lifestyle, I am hoping I can make significant progress on my reading goals. I do best when I feel I have accountability in goals, so for fun I thought I would share a list of books currently in my stacks. Most of these are patiently waiting on my nightstand or hall table. Some are on my Kindle or its corresponding wishlist. I have found that adding books to my wishlist is the simplest way for me to keep track of books I would like to read when I won’t allow myself to buy anymore.
1. The Bible in 90 Days (Kindle Version)-Finished, read about it here.
2. 1000 Gifts – Ann Voskamp (finish)
3. 31 Days to Clean – SarahMae
4. The Procrastinator’s Guide to Getting Things Done – Monica Ramirez Basco, PhD (probably should be right under my Bible reading) *
5. How to Be a Hepburn in a Hilton World – Jordan Christy *
6. Maximize Your Mornings – Kat (free e-book)
7. The art of EATING IN – Cathy Erway *
8. When God’s People Pray – Jim Cymbala (finish)
9. A Million Miles in a Thousand Years – Donald Miller
10. Quitter – Jon Acuff
If I finish these before the summer is over, I’ll be moving on to Weird by Craig Groeschel.
Today I’m linking up with Oh Amanda and her Top Ten Tuesday.
What’s the best book you have read lately? What is on your must-read list for the summer?

how i miss reading and thanks for the good read recommendations. I most probably be hooked with lots of kids books this summer. I am now curious about the book “Quitter”… let me know how it goes.
Caroline, the same day I posted this blog, a friend tweeted that he had finished Quitter. He said it is a MUST read. I’m looking forward to it and will update when I read it. Thanks for stopping by the blog.
Awesome list! I’m doing 31 Days to Clean right now, and I have a copy of 1000 gifts that I look forward to reading sometime over the next few months. I also have a few Christian fiction novels I’d like to read, like Tom Davis’ Priceless. There’s always a stack of non-fiction to be read.
I’m so glad you mentioned a fiction book. I do love fiction but I have struggled to find any in recent years that truly captures me. I will check out what you mentioned.
I should make this list of my own must reads. Good idea. I have 31 Days to Clean but am not reading it yet as I am finishing up a bible study.
Julie, thanks for stopping by! Yes, I have a couple of things on that list that are marked ‘finish’ because I have not committed to finishing one thing at a time. I think it is wise for you to take it one book at a time!
Um…I have a stack of Guideposts, a few Bible study books and sometimes my Bible. There’s not another inch of space on my nightstand after that. How on earth do you do it? I’ve read 2 books this year tops so you’re way ahead of me my dear. I am proud of you and hope your back feels better soon.
Nichole, I love to read! I think after working on my degree the last few years, I am rediscovering my love of reading for FUN! Although, hubby doesn’t understand how personal growth books count as fun reading 😉 You are also at a stage where you are exploring the world with your little girl…that is irreplaceable.
Quick update: today only you can get SarahMae’s eBook for $1!

One Thousand Gifts might well be the best book I’ve ever read! Amazing, and very much a life-changer. I bought for my Kindle, then bought the mp3 to hear the author’s soothing voice reading it, then decided this is a book for my bookshelf. It is the first actual book I have bought since buying a Kindle two years ago. A keeper to mark up and highlight and share. If you go to it on amazon, there is a very endearing video to give you an idea of the book…look for the pix of boy holding up a fish. That is the video.
I had the privilege of hearing her speak in October at Relevant. Her heart is so genuine. She truly has that joy and love just overflowing out of her heart into those around her.
