When God’s People Pray

It is the beginning of August, have your normal routines taken a back seat to summer fun? Whether or not you have children weeks away from starting another school year, it is a great month to complete a shorter Bible study as part of your daily routine. Call it a morning quiet time, devotional or nap-time sanity check-we cannot be doers of the Word if we are not spending time in the Word (James 1:22 KJV). What I loved most about When God’s People Pray is the fact that it is more than a Bible Study book, it is mentorship on the power of prayer in our lives. I agree with Cymbala’s assessment that we “do not have, because (we) do not ask God” James 4:2.

This study is designed for a six week session. There are short video clips available on dvd to accompany this book. I cannot recommend them highly enough. I saw most of the videos through our base PWOC group this spring. If you are another military wife looking for encouragement and spiritual growth, PWOC is a great resource even if you do not attend a base chapel for services.

You can hear a powerful message from the author of this series in my previous post: My House Shall Be Called.

Do you struggle to incorporate prayer into your daily living? Does your church have a powerful prayer ministry?
