Christ-Centered Christmas

It has been a while since I shared my progress on my goal to read 100 books this year. As of this writing, I still need to finish fifteen books to reach that goal. I believe I will do it.

When Hal and Melanie Young  from Raising Real Men offered a copy of their e-book, A Christ-Centered Christmas for review, I could not refuse. I was hoping this book would be a lot less about checklists for the perfect holiday and more about choosing activities to bring more joy to our Christmas celebration.

That is exactly what the book delivered.

This easy to read and practical e-book including the Young’s traditions regarding:

  • Decorating
  • Advent
  • Dinners
  • Baking
  • Music
  • Gift Giving
  • Santa Clause
  • Old Christmas {Epiphany, January 6th}

Some of the ideas I would like to implement are…

  • Granny’s Christmas Tea {recipe included}
  • Incorporating hymns for both teaching and memorization
  • Alternative dinner plans for the day our tree is decorated
  • Gifts are unwrapped, but packaging isn’t opened, until all the gifts are unwrapped

Features I loved in the book…

  • Links to hear songs included at the bottom of each song’s lyrics
  • References to historical figures credited with beginning the traditions we celebrate
  • Artwork depicting the historic individuals and events referenced
  • Detailed ingredient and shopping list for a variety of baked goods and meals

The book is currently priced at just $6. I believe the recipes alone are worth at least this much! This quick read can help you with a menu for a Christmas feast or help you determine when enough-is-enough for gift giving. Use these ideas if you are feeling overwhelmed with last minute tasks or purchase it at this great price to plan ahead for next year. While it is obviously Christian-based, I believe many of the ideas, and of course the food, would suit any Christmas celebration.

Hal and Melanie young are the parents to six boys and two girls. This homeschooling family has grown through moving, ministry, and fighting cancer. Learn more about them here.

I received a free copy of this book for review, but all opinions expressed are my own. I receive no compensation from the sale of this book, but choose to share my review in the hopes you will be as blessed by reading it as I was.
