100 Books Goal

The Year I Read 100 Books

It feels so good to say it…

I read 100 books in a year!

100 Books Goal

In the fall of 2010, I read about the plan to read through the Bible in 90 Days. Then I met Amy and a host of other bloggers at The Relevant Conference who had actually finished it. God had me hook, line, and sinker. I kept thinking: why should anyone listen to what I have to say about the Bible when I could not say with certainty that I had actually read the entire book?

So despite a cross-country move and a crazy season of life, on January 3, 2011 I began reading the Bible from beginning to end. It took me 144 days to finish, but finishing is what mattered. As soon as I made the commitment I knew I had a cousin goal: to read 100 books within a year.

Today I am celebrating the finish. I surpassed the goal. I miscounted and ended up reading 101 books according to my log, which doesn’t include several that I know I forgot to record. Despite a couple of late nights these last few days to hit the target, I know this would not have been possible without discipline and tracking {two reasons I believe most people give up on resolutions or goals in the New Year}.

The 100+ List

Thank you to each person who recommended these books to me and thank you for those who encouraged me to keep reading during the Bible in 90 Days challenge. You can track your list using the 2012 Reading List free printable.
