Risk {Relationship}

She wakes up before the sun and makes her way to the office. Walking inside, she switches on lights and brews hot water for tea. The screens flicker to life, the inbox fills up, and her heart whispers a prayer for grace for today.

The light filters in as the people do, each carrying their own morning with them.

Soon the meetings start, the task lists grow, and the weight of what remains to be done crushes out the hope of hours remaining in the day. Her attempts to serve fall short of expectations and frustrations threaten to flood grace.

But God pricks the hearts, because they were willing to listen to Him. Apology, love, grace, forgiveness, compassion, understanding, kindness…today they win.

Today, the risk was worth the reward.

  2. Oh, man…perfect word for relationship….risk! And it is SO hard sometimes to take that step, let alone a leap of faith. Yet as you described, even when challenging, it is almost always worth it.

  3. {Melinda} Yes, our own efforts always fall short. But we lean on the power of the Spirit, He does things we could never do on our own: transform hearts.

    Visiting from the (in)courage linkup!

    I needed to read this today–my “office” and my job may be different but I still need that list!
