3 in 30 Week 36 Update

One of the great things about completing these weekly updates is the encouragement I get to keep pressing towards my goals. It is easy to forget the progress I’ve made until I stop for a few minutes to share my updates with you. I hope it inspires you to keep going too.

Fill the Freezer

I tried this recipe for homemade baking mix and I don’t think we’ll ever go back to store bought again! This made the best biscuits I have had in a long time. I will probably mix the dry ingredients then add the butter when we are ready to use it for each cooking session. For this week, I made the entire batch into biscuits and put the leftovers in the freezer. I also completely went through my recipe binder. I identified some recipes in it and on my Pinterest boards that I want to make this month.

Purge and Organize the Staircase Closet

My plan is to complete this during the upcoming week.

“Fall” Cleaning

Despite my plans to work on the closet, I ended up rearranging my office. I had planned to replace a particle board bookcase with some heirloom furniture – a simple swap. Unfortunately, it was about 1/4 of an inch too wide. Because of the layout of doors and windows, the only way I could keep the inherited furniture was to do a semi-major overall to the office. Fortunately, a friend recommended this website and I was able to complete the entire makeover within 24 hours. {How did we move furniture before the invention of sliders? Seriously, every military wife should have some in her tool box.} You can see my new layout above. It’s working great so far and actually helped me start some purging I’d been wanting to do for some time.

The rest of the deep cleaning was random, but I did manage to get a lot done. We put things back where they belonged in the garage and did a little more purging of things we didn’t use all summer. We took a chair to a friend who does woodwork to get the final repairs made and he finished it the same day. I cleaned the refrigerator exterior, thoroughly cleaned my bathroom and bedroom, and put out the fall decor.

The fall decor took about five minutes because apparently I tossed everything that was falling apart last year! I had a garland and five pumpkins in the box. It’s been nearly a year since I learned a Hobby Lobby opened north of Seattle and seeing my pitiful decor prompted me to schedule a trip to the land of cheap holiday goodness asap.

Overall, I felt like I was crossing things off my to-do list like crazy this week and I loved it! Here’s a photo of our repaired, antique chair.

What are your favorite foods to stock the freezer with? Would love to have you share links to the recipes below.
